Kill Bill vol 1
I can’t tell you much about this film except that the first fifteen minutes were repulsive, and we didn’t want to go any further than that. In that short time we saw one of the most foul things I’ve ever encountered, and was horrified that someone could have thought it up in the first place. Knowing Quentin Tarantino’s style, he probably though it was funny to have a scene where a male nurse pimps his comatosed patients out to his redneck friends. The girl then wakes up and exacts her bloody revenge on the unsuspecting idiot. Violent, nasty and disturbing. And to think that QT made two of these!

Oh, I am SO glad that another person on the planet thought it was NASTY! There is NO WAY I will ever watch the second installment. It was constant maiming and violence, and I have to say very little else. (I hid behind the laptop for most of it)

I must disagree with you here.
While I agree that it is a violent film, I think you have completely missed the point of it (and obviously, won’t get it unless you watch it, so perhaps this is a superfluous comment to make).
They are actually brilliant films. A particular genre, yes, but still excellently made, artistically put together, with some stunning cinematography. I *loved* the japanese anime style excerpt in the first film, and this is the style on which the film is based, surely? The violence is part of the film making art. The second film has some stunning dialogue in it, too, and it is only in the second one that the storyline from the first one begins to make sense.
The story was brilliant too. But you’d have to watch *both* films to understand it. So I’m not surprised you don’t think much of it if you haven’t. Why review a film you haven’t even watched? And I don’t understand how you can watch Alien/Predator and then draw the line here?
Will have to agree to disagree I guess.

We didn’t stop watching for any particularly moral reasons, we were both just so repulsed we couldn’t go on. I for one felt physically sick.
It was a very deliberate choice to ‘review’ films we couldn’t finish for whatever reason, which is why we have a specific category for them. These difficult films are the ones you want a lot of persectives and information on before you decide whether or not to watch them.

True! We have, in fact, completely given up recommending films, as people seem to have such wide varieties of tastes - once we told a couple we were babysitting for to go and see ‘The Piano’ at the cinema, and they walked out as they hated it so much (I still love it!). Since then it’s been my policy only to say what *I* think!
I was a fan of Tarantino anyway - tbh I found Pulp Fiction more disturbing than Kill Bill. Would be interested to hear your views on other Tarantino stuff.

I loved Kill Bill- I have watched it so many times and just think it gets better and better
Pulp Fiction was much more disturbing!Though loved it also. I thought KB had a humour to it- that Japanese scene was hilarious.

Given your dislike for the film you might want to re-consider your use of google-ads given they are advertising to me Kill Bill swords at:

Also on a point of principle I don’t think you should review a film if you haven’t watched it beyond the first 15 minutes.

Just trying to work out whether you got as far as the mother being killed in front of her daughter? It does all tie up in the end though. A great pair of films which I would heartily recommend. The first one is better, but the second finishes the story off nicely and has fantastic sections of dialogue. Star of Vol. 2 has to be Daryl Hannah who combines tension, action and comedy brilliantly. Uma is equally watchable throuhgout. A Monty Python of the Action Genre and in my opinion the best I have seen from QT so far.
That said, I can understand it could challenge some people and is definitely not for the faint hearted or easily offended.

To the Kill Bill detractors: I have absolutely no sympathy with anyone who watched/tried to watch this and were repulsed by it. If you watch a Quentin Tarantino film you get everything you deserve.
